9 years of remote working experience. Now I’m building a platform that connects remote workers with laptop-friendly workspaces around the world.

San Francisco is the home of unique and work friendly workspaces. And able to work remotely from one of the most vibrant cities is truly exhilarating. My favorite part of working from S.F. is the opportunity to explore further into the city after you shut off your laptop.

But you’re here for the work (which can also be pleasurable), so restaurants and tour spots aside, here is a list of my favorite spots to get some serious work done around the different neighborhoods of San Francisco.

Located in the North Beach neighborhood, this is a truly stunning cafe. Like vertical wall garden installed against the white wall with marble table tops type of stunning. They had signs near the outlets to remind each remote worker the basic etiquette of working from a cafe—be courteous and buy something from the shop every 2 hours for longer period of work.

This is one of my favorite places to work from in Castro. Modern and minimalistic interior with great work-related attributes and delicious coffee. Attentive and friendly staff. Besides tea and coffee, they also serve wine (that I’ve yet to try).

No coffee at this spot. Instead, enjoy a pint of your favorite beer. Stable and high speed wifi, plenty outlets (they have outlets stored at the bottom of the bar table), and great ambience. Better yet, long night hours.

“Named after the island of São Jorge, Cafe St. Jorge brings a little taste of Portugal and the Açores Islands to San Francisco.” The navy blue filled quaint little spot in Bernal Heights opens early with breakfast and bunch options. Stable internet connectivity and easy access to outlets make this a sweet spot to get some work done during off peak hours.

It doesn’t have off the chart wifi speed nor outlet counts, but this is one of the most beautiful cafes I’ve seen in San Francisco. Actually, it’s much more than a cafe—it’s a blend of bar, museum, and library in this 15 seater venue that sits in Fort Mason. Inside it features a robotic wall painter along with a series of projects they’ve worked in the past.  One of the most renown artifacts is their 10,000 year clock.

Located in Nob Hill, this has been the ideal spot for many locals. Unique from other cafes is their walls — they’re canvases that feature art pieces by SF artists. Two floors of seatings, plenty of outlets.

There are two Coffee Bars in the city. Their Montgomery street venue is great for grabbing coffee to-go, while their SoMA is a beautiful spot for some sit-down work. During lunch hours (1130a-230p), they do reserve the small tables for their dine-in customers. And with it located in the center of start-up central, SoMA, it tends to get crowded quickly.
